San Francisco, Calif. – August 29, 2023 – The Continuous Delivery Foundation’s Jenkins® project comprised of the community of continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) practitioners using Jenkins, today reported growth in Jenkins Pipeline adoption for CI/CD process automation. Jenkins Pipeline usage grew 79% from June 2021 – June 2023, while total workloads on Jenkins during the same period grew by 45%. CI/CD pipelines are created to automate and speed the delivery of software, bringing value and competitive advantage to organizations.
Growth of 79% in Jenkins Pipeline jobs and of 45% in overall CI/CD workload*
Monthly Jenkins Pipeline jobs defined grew 79% during the period June 2021 – June 2023, from 27,105,176 jobs per month to 48,625,398 jobs per month. Jenkins Pipeline jobs are used to build out CI/CD software delivery automation flows, or software pipelines. Growth in this job type is a leading indicator of CI/CD adoption and, specifically, the pervasiveness of Jenkins-based CI/CD.
Total monthly jobs rose 45% from June 2021, when 50,785,205 jobs per month were defined, to June 2023 when 73,746,418 jobs per month were defined. Growth in the total monthly workload (all Jenkins jobs) further demonstrates the expansion of Jenkins usage within organizations.

Jenkins market share approximately 44% in 2023
Recent market share statistics from Datanyze show that Jenkins has an estimated 44% of CI/CD market share. Evans Data in its Worldwide Developer Population and Demographic Study 22.2 estimated there are approximately 25 million developers globally. With a 44% market share, this means approximately 11,264,000 developers use Jenkins for CI.

For example, GitHub currently supports over 2,600 GitHub repositories for the Jenkins project, containing over 1 million lines of code. Innovation is occurring on many fronts, including areas such as user interface (UI) enhancements, interoperability, security, mobile application development, infrastructure and Jenkins configuration as code (CasC).
